We live. We are alive. We survive.
Others have gone before us, gone beyond. But we go on.
The longer we live, the more we out-live,
the more we must learn to cope with loss.
Death strikes deep
when loved ones and family are taken.
Each instance unique in its own horrible circumstance,
whether the ravage of illness,
savagery of crime or warfare,
mystery of suicide or just the least expected
comes bearing the bitter fruit
that changes the nature of our lives forever.
We the living become walking wounded, spirits bound with the task of living, picking up the pieces of our lives and going on.
The following pages focus on a few selections to help our journey and point to other resources on the way.
